THE SEED
“In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain.” Psalms 11:1 NIV
The opening verse declares unwavering trust and faith in God. “In the Lord I take refuge.” Yet, the second part of the verse poses a question: “How then can you say to me: ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain’?” This question challenges us to consider where we turn in times of trouble. Do we flee to worldly solutions or find our refuge in God? Psalm 121:1-2 reaffirms this: “I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” This question could also come from the enemy if we do not know who we are in the Lord so that we can leave our legitimate place of refuge. We often encounter situations that urge us to run for safety, to escape like a bird to the mountains. But as believers, our ultimate safety is in the Lord. When we trust in Him, we will stand firm, knowing that God is our fortress, our refuge, and our strength. He provides strength when we are weak, protection when we are vulnerable and hope when we are in despair. We are called to stand strong in faith, for our God is greater than any challenge we might face. So, let this verse be a reminder to place our trust in the Lord. When fear or doubt tempts us to flee, let us remember that our true refuge is in God. He is our mountain, our unshakable fortress, and our constant source of hope and security.
