YOUR TO-DO LIST

THE SEED

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me … Luke 4: 18- 19 NIV

Many people prefer to use a to-do list to organise their days, either keeping a paper list or online, whereby they tick off their accomplishments one by one as each task is finished. John baptised Jesus, and after the baptism, he became empowered with the Holy Spirit. After that, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days. The devil tempted him. After He overcame the temptations in the wilderness, He went into the synagogue in Nazareth on the Sabbath day. Interestingly, the part of the scroll given to Him to read confirmed Prophet Isaiah’s words in Isaiah 61:1, 2. The passage was the list of things God sent Jesus to do through the Spirit of God that was upon Him. While we are sojourners in this world, we have (a) purpose/s; we should try and have it in mind and walk with the Spirit that empowers us to do those things God sent us to do within the family we were born into, the community, the Church, in our place of work etc. Therefore, if your to-do- list has a selfish reason or ambition with no purpose of good works to others, re-think your purposes. Romans 12:2 says Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by renewing your mind. Then you can test and approve God’s will, which is good, pleasing, and perfect. Remember, He has not given us the Spirit of fear in 2 Tim 1:7.

BIBLE READINGS:  Luke 4: 14-21

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, pour out your Spirit upon me and give me the courage to do those works for which you sent me to do on earth.
