FORGIVENESS

THE SEED

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

Forgiveness involves a process of letting go of anger, resentment, and desire for revenge. It’s about choosing to show love and compassion to someone who has wronged you. This verse reminds us that we can forgive each other because God forgave us.

Forgiveness is not always easy. Sometimes, it can be very difficult to forgive someone who has hurt you and didn’t acknowledge the wrong. Forgiveness is an important part of the Christian faith. Forgiveness is all about freeing yourself from negative emotions and finding inner peace. One great example of forgiveness to learn from in the Bible is the story of Joseph and his brothers. Joseph was the favourite son of his father, and his brothers were jealous of him. They sold him into slavery and lied to their father about what happened. Years later, when Joseph had become a powerful man in Egypt, his brothers came to him begging for food during a famine. Joseph could have taken revenge on his brothers, but instead, he chose to forgive them. As children of God, we must learn and choose to forgive anyone who wronged us. It’s not a matter of our decision but a compelling commandment from God for our forgiveness too.
