”Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.“ Job 5:2 NIV
Resentment is a feeling of negative emotion that one feels due to being mistreated or wronged. It could happen through untreated or unresolved issues. It is deadly as pointed out from our opening Bible verse. Life is full of disappointment and frustration but we must not allow ourselves as Christians to become overwhelmed to the point that we’ll be driven by the negative reactions that come with these experiences. If we allow unresolved issues to build up in our lives, it will result in a variety of emotions that include anger, bitterness, and evil thoughts towards others which can make us resentful. When one becomes resentful, trust and love are completely lost, and one will often feel a complex that aids abnormal behaviour towards others, seeking to harm them. Resentment is not a good feeling, it can weigh us down mentally and emotionally. To escape from its sting we must learn to forgive, forgiveness sets us free from the burden of resentment. In the words of Apostle Paul, he admonishes us to bear with each other and forgive one another. Another shade of resentment comes from envy of other people for their success in life. This shade of resentment made Cain to become the first murderer recorded in the Bible. Beloved, beware of resentment!

PRAYER: Lord, purge me of all resentful thoughts and feelings towards people who wronged me, in Jesus Name. Amen
