BEWARE OF THE DANGERS OF CRAFTINESS

THE SEED
”The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.“ Proverbs 14:8 NIV

Craftiness, often concealed in deceit and tricks, can lead us away from the path of righteousness. Craftiness can be a tool of the fool, leading us astray from the truth. Just as the serpent deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden, we are no more fools because we have the wisdom of Christ in us as His joint heir. We should be wise to understand that craftiness has the power to cloud our judgment and lead us into disobedience. Apostle Paul addresses the issue of craftiness in 2 Corinthians 4:2, stating, “But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth, we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.” If we are indeed born on the truth, we must know that craftiness goes against the openness and transparency that the truth demands. Lastly, in Ephesians 4:14, Apostle Paul also warns against being “tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Let us, therefore, be vigilant in recognizing the dangers of craftiness and by the divine wisdom that resides in us, let’s strive to live a life of honesty, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to God’s truth.
