THE JOY OF GIVING

THE SEED

”Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.“ James 1:17 ESV

Our joy of giving originated from God’s ultimate act of generosity. First, He gave us life in His image and ultimately, he gave His son for the redemption of our souls.

There is great joy derived from being able to give to others and this joy is not canal, it is an inner feeling that one feels for doing good and emulating the character of God, the great giver. During this season of giving, as we give gifts to the people around us, let us be led by the intuition of the Holy Spirit to give.  As echoed in the opening scripture, only God can give perfect gifts. As you are led to do this, let the joy of giving override any negativity that might emerge in the course of doing so. It is also possible that you receive a gift that you don’t like or need, to appreciate such a gift, you need to focus on the thoughts behind the gift. A thought of love for being remembered by someone to bless you with a gift. So, as we exchange gifts with family and friends, let us remember that every good and perfect gift comes from above and that the joy of giving finds its roots in God’s love for us. He gave us the gift of His Son, Jesus, as a demonstration of His love and grace. Therefore let your giving be a reflection of God’s love. Whether through tangible gifts, acts of kindness, or the sharing of the Gospel, embrace the joy of giving as a response to God’s incredible gift to us.
