“Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more because God took him away.” Genesis 5:24 NIV
Walking with God simply means following God’s lead and being in alignment with Him. As a believer, we should always follow God, to please Him. That is when we can ask and receive from Him. Enoch walked with God and didn’t see death, God gave him a great privilege because he was following Him. Following Him also helps our spiritual growth just like He told Abraham in Gen 17:1 to walk before Him and be perfect. Walking with God helps us to stay upright and righteous, just like how a child tends to keep up with his father’s pace when walking with him, we put more effort and dedication into meeting the standard of following God. A hymnal says “When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way.” The Lord directs our path and guides our footsteps so that we do not stumble and fall, this helps us to distance ourselves from the old man and not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Walking with God helps us to trust Him more and surrender everything to Him, we trust Him and do not lean on our understanding.
