KINDNESS

KINDNESS

THE SEED

“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32 (KJV).

Kindness is a virtue that involves treating others with compassion and generosity. It is a selfless and compassionate act that aims to improve the well-being of another person or being. In the bible, kindness is mentioned as a fruit of the spirit. Jesus taught us to “love our neighbours as ourselves and to “do unto others as we would have them do unto us”. Kindness is a lifestyle, It is a daily practice. As Christians, we are to grow in kindness.

Growth takes time. A seed does not just transform into a tree overnight, but with careful watering, tending, and patience, a seed will slowly grow day by day into a strong, towering tree. It is the same with kindness. We must be faithful every day to bear the good fruit of kindness. Being kind should be our default mode, a habit of goodwill, a heart of continual service every day of the year, like when Zacchaeus gave half of his possessions to the poor. Zacchaeus was a rich man who had become very greedy. He was not kind to others and cared about himself alone. However, after meeting Jesus, he changed his ways and became a generous and kind person. He gave half of his possessions to the poor, which showed how much he had changed.
