WE ARE OVERCOMERS
THE SEED
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5:5 KJV
A person who triumphs or prevails is an overcomer. He is the type of person who rises to the occasion and conquers all obstacles. As Christians, we have the ability to overcome because of our faith in Christ and our being born again. God is a kind God who is willing to do anything we ask of Him, no matter what circumstances we may find ourselves in. There are several biblical figures and real-life incidents that exemplify overcoming adversity. David’s victory over Goliath, Joseph’s ability to overcome setbacks and yet stay in God’s will for him, Joshua’s faith-filled leadership of the Israelites into the Promised Land, Job’s ability to overcome personal setbacks through faith in God, and Deborah’s bravery and trust in God in defeating the Canaanites are just a few examples, alongside many others. The position of an overcomer begins with believing that God can deliver us from our current circumstances. The next action is to maintain an optimistic outlook. We must realize that everything we experience is done so for God’s glory and our testimony as well. Additional essential elements for victory include self-control, bravery or courage, commitment to work hard, and determination.
