“And the Lord sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the commanders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king.” – 2 Chronicles 32:21a (NIV)
King Sennacherib of Assyria tried to terrify the people of Jerusalem, casting doubt on their faith by claiming God would not protect them. But King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah prayed, and God answered with powerful help, sending an angel to strike down the Assyrian forces. Sennacherib returned home in shame, and Jerusalem was saved. Similarly, in Judges 4, when Israel fell into sin, they suffered under Canaanite oppression. But God raised up Deborah, a Prophetess, to lead Israel alongside Barak. God’s helping hand turned the tides, and Sisera, the enemy commander, was defeated. When we face challenges in our lives—whether in our work, family, or personal battles—we can call on God for help. God may send His help in unexpected ways, even through other people. Trust in His hand, for He leads those who seek Him to victory.
