LONGING FOR GOD’S PRESENCE

THE SEED

“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” Psalm 42:2 KJV

The presence of God in a person’s life is truly beautiful. It fills us with undeserved favour and grace. “Presence” signifies the existence of something, and for believers, God’s presence assures us of His nearness and help. When Moses sought assurance from God about leading Israel, God promised, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14). This shows that God’s grace towards us is synonymous with His presence. While God is everywhere, our actions such as pursuing worldly desires or neglecting His will can cause us to lose a sense of His presence. He is near, but we may not be aware of Him. As believers, our bodies are the temple of the living God, and the Holy Spirit dwells within us (1 Corinthians 6:19). However, God desires more than passive belief; He longs for an active, intimate relationship with us. Attending church services and avoiding sin are good, but they are not enough. We must hunger for God’s presence because it brings guidance, joy, transformation, divine favour, and freedom from fear. Cultivating an awareness of His presence can be adopted by reading and meditating on His Word, maintaining a life of constant prayer, walking in humility before God and others, repenting quickly when we fall, aligning our lives with His will and persevering in righteousness. A longing for God’s presence reflects a deep desire for His love, guidance, and closeness. Let us seek Him sincerely and trust in His abiding presence.

Wiwa Ọlọrun nínú ìgbé ayé ènìyàn jẹ́ ohun tí ó lẹ́wà lóòótọ́. Ó kún wa pẹ̀lú ojúrere àti oore-ọ̀fẹ́ tí a kò tọ́. “Ojúpọ̀” túmọ̀ sí wíwà tèsíwájú ohun kan, àti fún àwọn onígbàgbọ́, ojúpọ̀ Ọlọrun ń fún wa ní ìdánilójú pé Ó súnmọ́ wa àti pé yóò ràn wá lọ́wọ́. Nígbàtí Mose ń wá ìdánilójú láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọrun nípa títọ́ Ísrẹ́lì, Ọlọrun ṣe ìlérí, “Ojúpọ̀ Mi yóò bá ọ lọ, Èmi yóò sì fún ọ ní ìsinmi” (Éksódù 33:14). Èyí ń fi hàn pé oore-ọ̀fẹ́ Ọlọrun sí wa jẹ́ ohun kan náà pẹ̀lú ojúpọ̀ Rẹ̀. Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé Ọlọrun wà níbikíbi, àwọn ìgbésẹ̀ wa bíi títẹ̀lé àwọn ìfẹ́ ayé tàbí àìbìkítà fún ìfẹ́ Rẹ̀ lè mú kí a pàdánù ìmọ̀lára ojúpọ̀ Rẹ̀. Ó súnmọ́ wa, ṣùgbọ́n a lè má mọ̀ pé Ó wà. Gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn onígbàgbọ́, ara wa ni tẹmpìlì Ọlọrun alààyè, Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ sì ń gbé inú wa (1 Kọ́ríńtì 6:19). Síbẹ̀, Ọlọrun fẹ́ ju ìgbàgbọ́ àìníṣe lọ; Ó ń fẹ́ àṣepọ̀ tímọ́tímọ́ pẹ̀lú wa. Lílọ sí ìjọsìn àti yíyàgò fún ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ dára, ṣùgbọ́n kò tó. A gbọ́dọ̀ pòǹgbẹ fún ojúpọ̀ Ọlọrun nítorí pé ó ń mú ìtọ́sọ́nà, ayọ̀, ìyípadà, ojúrere àilẹ́gbẹ́, àti òmìnira kúrò nínú ìbẹ̀rù wá. Ìmúdàgbà ìmọ̀lára ojúpọ̀ Rẹ̀ lè jẹ́ gbígbà nípa kíka àti ríronú lórí Ọ̀rọ̀ Rẹ̀, mímúra ìgbé ayé àdúrà déédé, rírìn nínú ìrẹ̀lẹ̀ níwájú Ọlọrun àti àwọn ẹlòmíràn, ríronu kíákíá nígbàtí a bá ṣubú, títẹ̀lé ìfẹ́ Rẹ̀ àti títẹ̀síwájú nínú òdodo. Àfẹ́rí fún ojúpọ̀ Ọlọrun ń fi ìfẹ́ jíjinlẹ̀ fún ìfẹ́ Rẹ̀, ìtọ́sọ́nà, àti àsùnmọ́ Rẹ̀ hàn. Ẹ jẹ́ kí a máa wá A tọkàntọkàn kí a sì gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ojúpọ̀ Rẹ̀ tí kò ní ìpẹ̀kun.
