PERSONAL CHOICE, PERSONAL CONSEQUENCES

THE SEED

“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:14–15 (KJV)

Sin is not accidental; it begins with a personal choice. While we inherit a sinful nature from Adam, the act of sin arises when we yield to temptation and choose disobedience. The Bible is clear: temptation entices, desire conceives, and sin is born. But it doesn’t stop there; if left unchecked, sin matures and ultimately leads to death. No one else can carry the burden of our wrongdoing. Each individual stands accountable before God for their own decisions. Our background, environment, or family history cannot justify sin; we are each judged by the choices we make. But thank God for His mercy. Though we fall, He offers forgiveness through Jesus Christ. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Grace does not erase responsibility, but it provides a way back to God when we repent. Sin is a personal choice, but so is repentance. Today, choose life over death, grace over guilt, and obedience over rebellion.

BIBLE READING: 1 John 1:5–10

PRAYER: Father, I acknowledge my responsibility for the choices I make. Thank You for the grace that forgives and restores. Help me to reject temptation, walk in obedience, and daily choose righteousness. Cleanse me by Your mercy and lead me in Your truth. Amen.
