“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1 (NIV)
Gratitude is not seasonal; it is spiritual. As the celebrations of Christmas begin to quiet, the call to thanksgiving continues. Psalm 107:1 reminds us to give thanks not just for what we have received, but for who God is: good, faithful, and unchanging. His love does not end when the holiday ends. It endures, carries, and comforts us all year round. This is a time to intentionally reflect, not on unmet expectations, but on the abundant mercies we’ve experienced. God preserved you, provided for you, walked with you through challenges, and comforted you in uncertainty. Each day held traces of His faithfulness. When we remember, we realign our hearts to see the new year through the lens of gratitude and trust.
Gratitude not only honours God; it strengthens our viewpoints. It shifts our focus from scarcity to sufficiency, from what is missing to all that has been given. As we close this year’s chapter, let our hearts be anchored in thanksgiving, and let that posture prepare us to receive more of God’s goodness in the new year to come.
