THE SACRIFICE GOD ACCEPTS
THE SEED
“And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake…” — Genesis 8:21 (KJV)
The Lord was pleased with Noah’s sacrifice because it reflected a heart posture that honoured Him. God does not need meat, blood, or material things. All things already belong to Him. What He desires is a heart that is right before Him. Cain offered a sacrifice, but it was rejected because his heart was not in the right place. God looks beyond the act of service to the attitude behind it. We may not sacrifice animals today, but we offer our worship, service, and time. Pride, jealousy, competition, or a desire for human praise can make what we offer unacceptable before God. It is not enough to do the right thing; it must be done with a right heart. Let us continually check our motives as we serve. A pure heart turns service into a sweet-smelling fragrance before the throne of grace.
Reflection: God accepts a heart that honours Him more than the gift itself.
