Don’t Retaliate!

THE SEED

“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.”1 Peter 3:9 ESV

The opening scripture above can only be fulfilled by brethren with the mind of Christ. It takes a Spirit-filled individual to bless and not curse or insult back when they receive the same from others and that is what we’re called to do. We are not to retaliate against evil with evil, but rather bless in return. When insults are being hauled at us for nothing that we have done wrong, as Christians, we are to take it with grace with no intention of retaliation. Let our response show people that we belong to Christ and when we can do things like this without regret, then we can be sure that we are growing as Christians. Can I do this? Yes, I can do all things through Christ’s strength. Determine to genuinely pray to God to forgive people that mistreat you, like Elder Stephen.

PRAYER

Lord, I desire to have a mature heart that repays evil with blessing, grant to me in Jesus’ name. Amen
