Lively Hope

THE SEED
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3

The opening scripture encourages Christians to have hope in spite of present suffering, because of future glory, and to maintain hope as we live out our lives. Hope is necessary for our well-being. Hope gives significance to life choices and enables people to endure living in a fallen world where pain, suffering and injustice are the norm. The object of living hope is the promise that the true believer is the beneficiary of God who will receive an inheritance that can never perish. The foundation of a living hope is found in knowing that this inheritance is secured by God’s power and guarded by our faith. This is a hope that will never die, that will never fade away, that will never let us down. Dearly beloved, as Christians we can lay claim to the one hope that will never let us down. It’s a living hope, made sure by the risen Lord Jesus Christ. His resurrection is the sign that we too will be raised to a new life. His Holy Spirit given to us is the guarantee that God’s life is flowing through us and will keep us safe until the end. That’s the hope that we have been given.

PRAYER
O Lord let your living water and your lively hope flow in me. In Jesus name, Amen.
