THE SEED
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Colossians 1:16
Divine knowledge and temporal knowledge are the two main categories of knowledge. The knowledge of Christ Jesus is divine knowledge, which is superior to all other knowledge including time-based information. Obedience to His precepts serves as a “litmus test” for how well we understand Christ. This understanding is an authentic, personal sharing of Christ, not just a passing familiarity with facts or knowledge. Though all knowledge is good, the knowledge of Christ is superior. In this life, intellectual knowledge is helpful, but the knowledge of Christ makes a lasting difference in our lives. In his comparison of the two, Apostle Paul labelled earthly knowledge and the material riches it produces as “loss” and “rubbish.” He viewed the knowledge of Christ as “the pearl of great price,” for which a man would deprive himself of all earthly possessions in order to attain (Matthew 13:46). Let’s pursue knowledge of Christ since it is superior to wealth, riches, rank, education, renown, and other things. Everything else is worthless in comparison to knowing our Lord Jesus Christ, for whom proper knowledge is eternal life.
PRAYER
O Lord, let your divine knowledge be imported in to my life above earthly possessions. Amen.
