The Importance Of Stillness

THE SEED
Be still, and know that I am God Psalm 46:10

The saying “God helps those who assist themselves” may be familiar to you. Certainly, I have. The majority of Christians think this piece of advice is in the Bible because it seems honourable and respectable, but it is not. We behave as though God needs our assistance far too frequently, whether we express this idea or not. In reality, this assertion runs directly against to what the Bible instructs us to do: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10 NIV). The Father is aware of our helplessness. We were completely unable to change our sinful state, which is why He sent His Son to die (Romans 5:8). God’s fundamental call to silence is part of what He wants for us. We put ourselves in the best position to learn when we remain silent in His presence. We are best able to recognise His Spirit there. Are you too preoccupied to hear from God? Even though our activities are meant to further His kingdom, keep in mind that He can achieve much more through a surrendered heart than we can in a 24-hour period of feverish activity. Recognize your reliance on the Lord, then take a break. In the stillness, you’ll find a Saviour who affirms that He is sufficient.

PRAYER
Oh Lord, give me the grace to endure and be patient before you, Amen.
