Encourage Yourself

THE SEED
“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6

In the story where the verse of the scripture was taken from, David and his men came back to their homes in Ziklag after an intended battle which they were unable to participate in after the third day that the Amalekites had invaded their settlement, burnt their homes, taken captive of their women and children. They don’t know what the Amalekites would have done to their wives and children. They were in great sorrow and distress. Men of war including David wept until there was no more strength in them to cry. But David eventually encouraged himself in the Lord. He summoned the courage to ask God if he should pursue the enemy and if He would give him victory. You may find yourself in a situation where you are faced with such a challenge. You may go through some discouraging moments in your life. You have to be the one that will encourage yourself in the Lord your God. You have a heavenly father that cares for you. Reach out to Him in your lowest moment and He will deliver you. Do not allow the enemy to take away your joy, hope and peace of mind. Encourage yourself. Do not lose hope. Receive the strength to call out to your maker.

PRAYER
I receive strength to be encouraged in the Lord in Jesus’ name. Amen.
