Making Up False Gods

THE SEED
“You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth” Exodus 20:3-4.

Even though there are still many people in different parts of the world that are still carving out for themselves or creating a form of image or idols to which they bow down and worship as their gods. Some may be because they were born into such practice in their family and some may choose to indulge in such practice. Many others are consciously or unconsciously forming different kind of gods that is different from the one and only Almighty God the creator of heaven and earth in their minds. They believe and say my God will forgive me no matter what I do. I don’t need to repent for my God is a merciful God. They have created another god in their mind. That god is not of the Holy Bible. Some will make an argument that God cannot throw anybody into hell, that He is such a loving God. That is forming a false God. That is creating a God that suits us and the one that we are comfortable with. We should know that God is the one that created us and He gave us instructions to follow so that it can be well with us.  The responsibility is now on us to find out who God is; he has revealed Himself to mankind over ages, and also find out His commandments and follow them. Not to be creating a false god for ourselves whether physically like what the children of Israel did in Exodus 32:4 or our mind/heart.

BIBLE READING: Exodus 32:1-4.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, may I serve the only one true God and not serve a false god in Jesus’ name. Amen.
