“And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” Job 42:10 ESV
One of the easiest ways or the first step to forgive the wrong-doing of people is by praying for them. God Himself taught us this principle through the story of Job’s life ordeal and the role that his friends played. The friends came to console Job but they became an offense, in their words they offended God and offended Job. When God was ready to restore Job, God instructed him to pray for his friends so that his blessings would not be hindered. Job an obedient child of God listened and did according to God’s instruction after he had prayed for his friends, God restored all that satan took from him multiple folds. Job’s story is a popular one in a Christian society but the lesson from the scripture above is the readiness of Job to act according to God’s word to pray for those that offended him and how God worked with this to bless him in multiple folds. As children of God, as much as we harbour grudges in our hearts towards those that offend us, so we would be doing ourselves great harm by obstructing the blessings of God in our lives. Let’s learn to pray for those that offend us. This will make the forgiveness process easy for us and we can enjoy free minds toward everyone as well as usher God’s blessing into our lives.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, teach my heart to let go of all offences towards me and enable me the spiritual maturity to pray for those who offend me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
