Making Love Tangible

THE SEED
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” John 15:12

Jesus’ mandate is unmistakable. Make love tangible. The kind of love Jesus called for is love in action. Jesus makes it clear that being a Christian is more than speaking in pious language, it’s more than a feeling or an experience. It’s being his partner in making love tangible. Jesus gives a command to all who would follow him. This is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you. You can’t command a feeling. You can’t force somebody love you. Either it is or it aren’t. So love in Jesus’ view is obviously something more. Love is something you do more than it is something you feel. The main thrust of Christ’s ministry was tangible proof of his love…for everyone. And Christ wants us today to follow his example and expand the meaning of forgiveness, expand the meaning of service, expand the meaning of love…in a practical way. We are to continue to show Christ-like love wherever we find ourselves in this world.
