The Thief Cometh

THE SEED
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

There is a thief and he is the devil. The devil has taken aim at every believers! His design is to steal, to kill and to destroy. He will lie to us, discourage us, try to steal from us, entrap us, turn us against each other, and blind us to the will of God. He is real, he is not a myth. Satan tries to rob us of life – both eternal life and abundant life – through his lies and deception, and if we listen to him, he will steal away life as a thief in the night. He wants to bring about death, and loss of joy and fulfilment. The devil not only seeks to steal abundant life in Christ, but he seeks to steal away eternal life – not only from believers, but also from the lost. The devil keeps the lost confused, and not understanding, by causing them to question God’s Word. He might interject in their mind, “How can I trust the Bible? Wasn’t Jesus just a prophet and a good person? How can I believe He was God’s Son, and arose from the grave?” Because of their confusion, they do not know what to believe, and so they never choose to believe in Jesus as Savior. The way the devil steals eternal life is to deceive the lost into staying lost. The way in which the devil steals eternal life is to deceive the lost into believing that they’re okay without Jesus. We must come to realize that there is only one way to enter heaven, and that is through Christ alone (John 14:6).
