A DANGEROUS TRANSITION

THE SEED

“And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel.“ Judges 2:10 ESV

In this instance, we are reflecting on the transition from knowing and serving God to losing the knowledge of God and stopping to serve Him. In the days of Joshua the leader of Isreal after Moses, the Bible recorded that, the people of Isreal were serving God but after his death and the death of the elders that were with him, a generation arose who did not know God or serve Him. What brought about this? There are many factors that we can learn from that caused this evil transition. The first thing to note is that the process did not start with the death of Joshua and the elders, it was the climax that brought to light the state of that generation. The process started when the older generation thrived in disobedience. The younger generation watched them and saw their preference practices, they formed their ideas from what they saw them do, so it was convenient for the younger generation to stop serving God after the existence of the older generations. The lesson for us today is, that we should serve God wholeheartedly in obedience so that it will be easier for our children to serve God too.
