A LYING TONGUE

THE SEED
“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue….” Proverbs 6:16-17.

To tell lies is common knowledge to all. It is to speak falsely or share untrue knowledge, with the intent to deceive, to express what is false or to convey a false impression. As a child of God, to have a lying tongue is an abomination before God. The world and the devil are trying to trivialize the sin of telling lies by giving it different colours or names. God frowns at someone telling a lie that is why Jesus Christ told us that we should let our Yes be Yes and our No be No. There is no need to swear using the name of God to convince people that we are telling the truth which is not real most times. Ananias and Sapphira’s incident in the book of Acts chapter 5 (see our Bible reading below) is a typical example of the danger that a lying tongue can cause in one’s life. You can survive in this world by the grace of God without telling a lie. Ask for the grace to tell the truth and God shall help you.

BIBLE READINGS:  Acts 5:1-11

PRAYER: I receive the grace to say the truth and nothing but the truth in Jesus’ name. Amen.
