THE SEED
”So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 NIV
These verses illustrate the importance of being rooted in Christ, a foundation that sustains us and allows us to flourish in our Christian journey. Being rooted in Christ is likened to a tree planted by the river’s side according to the book of Psalm 1. Being rooted in Christ comes with the confidence to not have fear of any challenge of life because you are rooted in the right place that can sustain you through all odds of life. Also, in the Psalm we see the relationship between delighting in God’s Word and being firmly rooted, leading to a life marked by fruitfulness and prosperity.
Moreover, to be rooted in Christ is to be grounded in love which is foundational to our Christian walk. This enables us to extend kindness and compassion to others as we walk in the footsteps of our Lord. Beloved, as we reflect on being rooted in Christ, let us be intentional in our spiritual practices. Delighting in God’s Word, walking in love, and trusting in the Lord contribute to a deep and solid foundation. Like a well-nourished tree, we can withstand the trials of life and bear fruit that glorifies our Heavenly Father.
