BEYOND GREATNESS

THE SEED
“But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your Minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant” Matthew 20:26-27

To be great means to be outstanding in whatever one does. It means to be successful, prosperous. But the greatest definition for the word greatness is, ‘a life of blessing’ and any man that is great is a man whose life is blessing people everyday. A man that gives joy and succour to others. In the opening Scripture, to Jesus Christ, true human greatness then came down to this: humble servanthood. Putting the needs of others ahead of your own for your whole life, and whoever was most willing to lay himself down for the good of others would be called greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Remember that when you talk about your own greatness, it’s easy to forget that we are saved by grace alone and so Jesus says greatness in the kingdom is earned by servanthood. Humble yourself now, stop living for yourself, stop living for your earthly advantages, your earthly pleasures, earthly prestige and power and glory. Greatness through God-sized dreams are made possible when faithfulness connects with fruitfulness. The pursuit of greatness is an invitation to explore how the depth and intensity of following Jesus Christ can result into a spirituality of relevancy and restoration, vitality and transformation,  victory and liberation.
