“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid…” Romans 6:1-2 KJV
Claiming God’s covenant while engaging in wrongdoing is a dangerous misunderstanding of His promises. God’s covenant is built on faithfulness, obedience, and a heart that seeks Him. While His grace is abundant, He does not bless disobedience. The Israelites in the Bible tried to rely on God’s promises while ignoring His commands. In Jeremiah 7:9-11, God rebukes Israel for believing they could steal, murder, and worship false gods while still expecting His protection. This is common among some believers today, they engage in vivid wrongs yet they claim God’s promises from the scriptures. Apostle Paul warns against this type of abusing God’s grace in Romans 6:1-2: “… Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.” God can not be mocked, we can only deceive ourselves. God’s covenant requires repentance and a sincere walk with Him. If we turn from sin and seek Him wholeheartedly, He is faithful to restore and fulfil His promises. Let us walk in obedience, not in our opinions, and claim His covenant and promises rightly.

PRAYER: Father, I humbly ask for Your mercy where I’ve claimed Your promises while not fully walking in Your ways. Teach me to honour Your covenant through a life of obedience and truth. Let Your grace guide me daily to live in a way that pleases You. Amen.
