“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted”. Matthew 5:4 (KJV)
To mourn the loss of a loved one is human nature, but one of the most difficult situations we struggle with. We came from the dust of the earth and to that dust we shall return, but this is not always so easy to accept, especially because it is not something that one can be prepared for. Mourning can also be more broadly applied to any extreme feeling of sadness or disappointment, but no matter what the situation is, we should have faith, because Jesus says He will comfort us. In a time of great difficulty, Jesus will bring calm and relief, there will be an unexplainable peace within us that could have only come from God. There will certainly be challenges we experience because we live in this world and are mortal flesh, but God will never allow us to be absorbed by sorrow or overwhelmed in distress. We are overcomers. The Psalmist says in Psalm 34 that the Lord is near the broken-hearted to comfort and heal them. There is a time to weep and mourn, but soon after, because of God’s infinite mercy and compassion, there will be a time for laughter.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, even as I journey through this life and experience things that try to overwhelm me with sadness, please fill me with your peace. Holy Spirit, always be my peace, comforter and enable me to wait for my time of joy which will come in Jesus Name, Amen.
