Denying Jesus

The Good Shepherd by Bernard Plockhorst. This classic image is possibly the all-time favorite image of the Good Shepherd, which has inspired many artists since.

THE SEED
He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. Luke 11:23

That important comment was given by Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It is obvious that no one can have a middle ground in this world; either you are for Jesus or you are against Him. Judas
conversed with Jesus while they were out and about, but ultimately, for whatever reason, Judas betrayed and denied him. The same is true of Apostle Peter, the disciple leader, who refused Jesus for an unspecified reason. Each of us possesses a small amount of Peter and Judas. We all make lofty promises to God but occasionally fall short of keeping them. We all falter occasionally in the face of criticism and social expectations. There are hints throughout the Bible that two worlds—the world of God, represented by Jesus, and the world of Satan, in this case represented by Judas—are at odds with one another. Judas’ decision to support or oppose Jesus was therefore a decision to support or oppose God. There is no grey area; you are either winning souls for Him or you are losing lives to Him. Nobody can deny that those who are in the world or who are not born-again are opposed to Jesus Christ. Those who have experienced rebirth, however, must determine whether they support or oppose Jesus. From the perspective of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, this is the truth.

PRAYER
Make me a vessel unto honor and not an instrument of shame.
