“The Angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.” Genesis 16:9 NKJV
God knows the way out of all our troubles, be it present or past, even when our troubles were created by our own hands, He can tell us how to get out of any difficulty. He has the answer, every time we find ourselves stranded. However, what He tells us to do may not be what we want to hear. Most of the time, God’s option would not have been our first choice. God told Hagar to return to the service of the person that was maltreating her, while she was pregnant. We must remember that God knows our tomorrow. He is the only one that does. Even more importantly, He knows exactly how to get us there. If we will only follow and obey Him. The interesting thing about the way we pray and make requests to God sometimes is that we come to the place of prayer with our solutions prepared. We come to Him, already having a ‘good’ idea of what we want God to do to solve our problems. A lot of the time, we end up being wrong. We cannot put God in a box. He has an infinite number of routes by which He can grant us our desired results. However, our focus on a particular solution to our problems get in the way of what God would like to do for us. Train yourself to follow God’s lead and guidance, even if you do not resonate with it. Hagar obeyed and saw God’s promise come to pass. You obey as well. You may not enjoy it at the present. But it is guaranteed, you can never regret it.
