THE SEED
“But Gideon told them, ‘I will not rule over you, nor will my son. The Lord will rule over you.” – Judges 8:23 (NIV)
After Gideon’s victories, the people of Israel wanted to make him their king. They were impressed by his leadership and saw him as a deliverer. But Gideon declined the offer, reminding them that the Lord, not man, should rule over them. There is always a temptation to claim credit when God uses us powerfully. Praise and recognition can quickly become a snare if we lose sight of who truly deserves the glory. Gideon’s response is a model for us: “The Lord will rule over you.” Even when people acknowledge your impact or success, be quick to point them back to God. Leadership is not about status but service. True leaders deflect glory to God and lead others to honour Him as King.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to give You the glory in all things. Help me resist the temptation to take credit for what You’ve done. May my life and leadership always point others to You as the true King in Jesus name, Amen.

olùdáǹdè. Ṣugbọn Gideoni kọ̀ ọ̀rọ̀ náà, ó rán wọn létí pé, OLUWA, kì í ṣe eniyan, ti ó gbọdọ̀ jọba lé wọn lórí. Idanwo máa ńwá nigbagbogbo, lati beere iyin nigbati Ọlọrun ba lo wa ni ilo agbara. Ìyìn àti ìdánimọ̀ lè yára di ìdẹkùn tí a bá pàdánù lati mọ ẹni tí ògo tọ́ sí. Nítòótọ́ Ìdáhùn Gídíónì jẹ́ àwòkọ́ṣe fún wa “Olúwa yóò jọba lé yín lórí”. Paapaa nigbati awọn eniyan ba jẹwọ ipa tabi aṣeyọri wọ́n, yara lati tọka wọn pada si Ọlọrun. Jíjẹ Olórí kii ṣe nipasẹ ipò, ṣugbọn nipa iṣẹ.
