DON’T BE A CHEAP PERSON

THE SEED

“Then Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land; and he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, “If you will give it, please hear me. I will give you money for the field; take it from me and I will bury my dead there.” Genesis 23:12-13 NKJV

Don’t be in a haste to collect free things all the time. Don’t be the person who is always looking to ‘get and get’ and never ‘give’. Looking for something for nothing or the lowest possible price. It is a sign of a ‘scarcity mindset’. A scarcity mindset believes resources are scarce, and we are all here to compete with one another. Therefore, one person having access to wealth, or a resource automatically means, there is less of it to go around everyone else. So, when you can get something without paying for it, it is a bonus. But this is not true, most of the time. Nothing is scarce on this earth. For instance, all the gold God created is still on the earth. All the water God created is still on the earth. It is a principle of Physics that energy isn’t destroyed or lost. It merely changes from one form to another. So, what we truly lack is an understanding of how to get what we need. This is having an ‘abundance mindset’. This is one reason why we should not rush to take free things from people. Another is that not every gift is a blessing. Learn to attach value to what you want. Accept that you must pay the price sometimes, even if it is inconvenient. Just like Abraham, and David (2 Chron. 24: 24). Some gifts can rob you of your freedom and dignity. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to know when to accept a gift and when to insist on paying, in Jesus name,  Amen.
