EMULATE THE MODEL OF JESUS’ FORGIVENESS

THE SEED
”Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.“ Luke 23:34 NKJV

Jesus is the ultimate example of forgiveness. The model of Jesus’ forgiveness stands for pure love and grace. It’s about forgiving those who are not asking for your forgiveness even though they have wronged you greatly. As Jesus was hung up on the cross the people were mocking Him and Roman soldiers tortured Him to inflict excruciating pain on Him but all He could feel was compassion for their souls not to perish. He sought God the Father on their behalf, Jesus asked God to forgive the people who did not know that they were doing evil! This got me thinking, could it be that most people who wronged us might be acting ignorantly under the strategic influence of demonic forces to inflict pain on us or frustrate us? If so, then we have to emulate the model of Jesus’ forgiveness to release them from our hearts and leave them with God to judge them. Stephen, one of the early church Deacons, with the help of the Holy Spirit, truthfully modelled the type of Jesus’ forgiveness. Before he had his final breath, he said, ”…, Lord, do not charge them with this sin …“ I believe we can also model Jesus’ type of forgiveness in all areas of our lives with the help of the Holy Spirit, this will help us to reflect the love of Christ.

BIBLE READINGS:  Acts 7:54-60

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, with the help of the Holy Spirit, enable me to truthfully model your type of forgiveness to live a life that is pleasing to you. Amen
