”For you have need of endurance, …“ Hebrews 10:36a NKJV
In the opening scripture, Apostle Paul encouraged the Hebrew believers on the importance of endurance to become successful in their Christian faith. He described it as a ‘need’. “Endurance is the ability to survive the most difficult situation with steady and focused effort towards a goal. It is the capacity to finish well,”(Pastor Wayne Cordeiro). “Endurance is the ability to continue with an unpleasant or difficult situation, experience, or activity over a long period.”(Collins English dictionary). “Endurance is a positive word. It refers to building up strength, increasing stamina, going the distance, and becoming stronger. Trials serve to strengthen our faith. Trials help us grow; they refine us.” Are the above definitions familiar with what our endurance looks like in Christ? I mean, can we or do we possess the ability to continuously endure adversity, pain, discomfort, hardship, or suffering for a while with a steady and focused mind on Christ without losing faith? Apostle Paul said to the Romans brethren, ”…, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;“ this means that trials and tribulations are the fuel that builds tenacity of our endurance capacity and this is a quality that God values in us. It’s a testament to our faith, love, and commitment to Him.
