EPIPHANY
THE SEED
“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” Genesis 28:16
An epiphany is a moment of profound revelation or realization, especially of the reality of God in a person’s life. For many Christians, this moment occurred when they received Jesus into their hearts and became born again. However, for those raised in Christian homes, this realization can be different. They may grow up surrounded by the practices and teachings of Christianity but still require a personal encounter with God at some point. For such individuals, an epiphany transforms their faith from mere tradition into a personal relationship with God. Church attendance ceases to be an obligation, and instead, it becomes a heartfelt act of worship. This transformation is evident in Jacob’s life. In the scripture, Jacob’s epiphany marked the point where God became real to him—not just the God of his father and grandfather, but his personal God. Have you had your epiphany? Is your relationship with God personal, or do you go through the notions because of someone else? If no one encouraged you to attend church or read your Bible, would you still do it? More importantly, have your children or loved ones had their epiphany? These moments of realization are essential for a lasting, vibrant faith.
