Goodness Without Ulterior Motives

THE SEED

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” Acts 10:38 ESV

The character of the Good Samaritan in the story that Jesus shared in the book of Luke chapter 10, is a reference point to describe our goodness as Christians. The wounded man was a total stranger to him, yet he was good to him. He did try to give immediate care and also took him to a place where he received further care. He spent his money with no thought of taking a refund. He just did this because goodness resides in him. Jesus, our Lord, and Saviour went about doing good to all men, both Jews and Gentiles. He did all with no hidden agenda of receiving anything in return. We are not supposed to act out goodness or be pleasant to people around us at will, it must be our personality. We can’t be selective about who to be good too. As followers of Jesus Christ, we must be good to all men that cross our path in life. Goodness is not an attribute of Adamic nature, but spirit led. To live a life of goodness, we must be anointed to do good by the Holy Spirit and have God’s presence with us just like Jesus.

PRAYER
