GROWING AN ENDURING FAITH

THE SEED
”looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the Cross, despising the shame.“ Hebrews 12:2 ESV

An enduring faith trusts God and looks up to Jesus no matter what, in all things, regardless of the circumstances. It is a faith that is built over time, day by day, experience by experience. Enduring faith is not just about surviving; it’s about thriving. We can grow an enduring faith in God by trusting God when times are hard naturally or by our doing. An enduring faith knows that God is still God when the storms blow and tragedy hits. Even in the midst of this, God is still good. God is faithful now and will be in the end. This can well describe the life of King David. Trusting God when life or something doesn’t make sense can help us to grow an enduring faith. To have received the instruction from God to go and sacrifice Isaac, the only promised son and heir to Abraham’s household did not make sense but Abraham trusted God and followed the instruction which turned out to be a test of his faith. Lastly, trusting God when hope seems lost is another way to grow our faith. The woman with twelve years issues of blood trusted Jesus after spending all she had and was healed. Hope seemed to be lost for her but hope is not lost when God is involved. There is always hope in Him. What seems like a dead end is not with God. Growing an enduring faith in Christ is all about putting our trust in Him in season and out of season.
