THE SEED
“And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for you that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:30 (KJV)
This is one of the teachings of Jesus Christ delivered during one of His sermons on the Mount in which he addressed a variety of issues and provided us with solutions. In this passage, your ‘right hand’ is anything that hinders you from reaching eternity with God, this may come in the form of habits or behaviours, friends or materialism, whatever it is, we must ask ourselves this key question- is it worth it? Is your habitual sin more precious to you than eternity with your Maker? Is the best friend that constantly misleads you more exciting than the joy that will occur in heaven with God, His angels and all the Saints? And finally, is the love of money and property more valuable than reuniting with Jesus, who loves you more than anything? No, Nothing is worth sacrificing your eternity for, this is why Jesus sternly tells us to “cut it off!” It may be difficult but in the end, you will look back in thanks.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to cut off anything that will prevent me from reuniting with you in eternity. Give me the strength to resist the temptations of this world and put you as a priority in my life.
