IS YOUR FAITH BASED ON GOD’S TRUTH OR HUMAN IDEAS
THE SEED
“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” – Colossians 2:8 (NIV)
In a world filled with information and opinions, it’s easy to build our faith on ideas that sound good but are not rooted in Scripture. Apostle Paul warns believers not to be taken captive by philosophies that originate from human reasoning rather than divine revelation. These ideas may appear wise, even moral, but if they contradict God’s Word, they are ultimately deceptive. True faith must be grounded in God’s truth. When we base our beliefs on what is popular, traditional, or emotionally appealing rather than on Christ and His Word, we set ourselves up for spiritual instability. Human ideas change, but God’s truth is eternal. It is the only reliable foundation for our faith and life. It’s not enough to claim faith; we must ensure our faith is built on what God has said, not on what culture, opinion, or personal preference dictates. That means, returning often to Scripture, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and being willing to let go of beliefs that don’t align with God’s truth. Take time today to examine your faith. What do you believe, and why do you believe it? Ask God to reveal any areas where you’ve unknowingly accepted human ideas over divine truth. Let your faith be rooted in Christ alone.
BIBLE READING: Colossians 2:6-10
PRAYER: Father, I want my faith to be based on Your truth, not on the ideas or philosophies of this world. Help me to discern what is from You and what is not that I may build my life on Christ, the solid rock. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
