Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they don’t know what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots. Luke 23:34
Forgiveness is an act of letting go of an incident that has caused a pain. Right from the day of our first parents, our sins were before God. Forgiveness started from God, who sent his only begotten son for the sake of our sin, to save and redeem us from every bondage of sin and give salvation unto us. Jesus the only son of God came to this world to carry the cross of our condemnation, he was punished for a sin he did not commit. He received strokes of cane and his face was spat upon. He was crucified, crowned with a crown of thorns on his head. He was mocked, and He passed through a series of punishment. Yet right on the cross where he was crucified, He pleaded for forgiveness of sins, for mankind. Even when it was not convenient for him, He cried unto God for us, saying “Father forgive them for they know not what they are do” Luke 23:34. For this act, we received forgiveness through the blood of our Lord Jesus. In one way or the other, when we offend ourselves, we should realize that God has given us an example of forgiveness to follow through our Lord Jesus Christ. As Human being our Lord Jesus has been our advocate before God. It is our duty now to forgive other people their offenses. We can pray to God and can also plead on behalf of people that have offended us. Biblical forgiveness is a must. If we are ready to be disciples of Jesus.
