MY SOURCE OF LIFE AND GOODNESS

THE SEED
“I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you, I have no good thing.” Psalms 16:2

Psalms 16:2 brings out a soulful confession of the truth about our dependence on God for true goodness and fulfilment in life. The Psalmist realized that there is no wisdom in man that can produce fulfilment of life and goodness unless we draw strength from our source who is God. This was later emphasised by the Lord in the gospel of John chapter 15, verse 5. Jesus said to his disciples, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” The truth of these Bible verses is the principle that apart from a connection with God, our source of life and goodness, we find ourselves lacking. As children of God, we need to reflect a deep understanding in our way of life that true goodness is not found in external possessions or achievements but in a relationship with the Saviour. We should always echo in our spirit as we navigate the journey of life our need for God as the source of all good things so that we can always be inspired to find our completeness and fulfilment in Him alone.
