“And he felt him and said, ‘The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.’” – Genesis 27:22 (NKJV)

Genesis 27 recounts the story of Isaac being deceived by Jacob with the help of Rebekah. Though Isaac was suspicious, he ignored the warning signs—the speed of the food preparation and the mismatch between Jacob’s voice and Esau’s hands. Isaac chose to overlook his doubts, allowing the deception to succeed. This story illustrates how people often ignore red flags due to convenience, fear, or reluctance to disrupt the status quo. Similarly, many fall victim to scams, lies, or temptations because they choose to dismiss their inner warnings. Believers must learn to be diligent and discerning, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide them. Deception often requires our participation, so let us resolve to remain vigilant and avoid ignoring signs of danger.

Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé Ísákì funra, ko kọbi ara sí àwọn àmì bii ìwọ̀n ìmúrasílẹ̀ oúnjẹ àti aìdọ́gba láàárín ohùn Jacob’ àti ọwọ́ Esau’. Isaaki yàn láti gbójú fo àwọn iyèméjì rẹ̀, ní fífàyè gba ẹ̀tàn náà láti ṣàṣeyọrí. Itan yii ṣapejuwe bi awọn eniyan ṣe maa n foju fo awọn àmì nitori irọrun, iberu, tabi aifẹ lati da ohun tó ti wà duro. Lọ́nà kan náà, ọ̀pọ̀ èèyàn ló máa ń jìyà ẹ̀tàn, irọ́, tàbí ìdanwò torí pé wọ́n yàn láti kọ ìkìlọ̀ inú wọn sílẹ̀. Àwọn onígbàgbọ́ gbọ́dọ̀ kẹ́kọ̀ọ́ láti jẹ́ akíkanjú àti òye, ní gbígbẹ́kẹ̀lé Ẹ̀ mí Mímọ́ láti tọ́ wọn sọ́nà. Ẹtan nigbagbogbo nilo ikopa wa, nitorinaa jẹ ki a pinnu lati wa ni iṣọra ki a yago fun aibikita awọn ami ewu.
