REVENGE IS OF GOD

REVENGE IS OF GOD

THE SEED

“Do not say, “I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.”Proverbs 24:29 NKJV

The Apostle Paul admonishes us in his letter to the Romans to take no revenge, but to allow us to take charge because to avenge is God’s duty. We all can relate to the fact that revenge is tempting when we have been hurt by a friend or by anyone. We will want to do the same thing that the person did to us or even something worse to make that person feel the same way we felt. Jacob deceived his father by pretending to be Esau, he did what Isaac their father required Esau to do, and he wore Esau’s clothes so that Isaac might think that he was Esau. Isaac believed Jacob and blessed him instead of Esau, and because of this Esau hated Jacob and was willing to kill him. The secret to desist from revenge is that it really wouldn’t make us any less relieved or at peace, it will even make us more troubled and restless. Imagine if Esau had succeeded in killing Jacob, he would have been greatly troubled and full of regrets knowing he had sinned against God by killing his brother. God is not in support of revenge, He says that we should leave it to Him, vengeance is His and he will surely punish those who have done evil against us. The best thing that we can do instead of revenge is to love and to forgive, to let go of every pain that we are feeling at that moment and leave it to God to avenge us. We should also pray for the person who has hurt us and we will feel more peace within us.
