STARVE THE FLESH
THE SEED
“But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof” Romans 13:14
Apostle Paul admonished us in the passage above to walk in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ. This means as followers of Christ, we should live a life that conforms to the likeness and character of our Master; Jesus. We must not disobey the commandments of our Lord in order to fulfill the desires of our flesh. The bible says God’s greatest commandment is to love God and also others. The flesh does not want us to fulfill the desires of God. We must starve the flesh, by setting our minds on pleasing God. Choosing to study God’s word, instead of spending time on activities that do not glorify God. We must also decide to forgive, even when we are hurt instead of choosing to take revenge. Treating all men equally instead of showing favoritism. Also, praying unceasingly in good and not so good times, will starve the flesh and propel our spirit-man to gain stature to gradually become the true image of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PRAYER: My God and my Saviour, help me to become more and more like you, so that my life will glorify and be pleasing to you, Amen.

Àpọ́sítélì Pọ́ọ̀lù gbà wá níyànjú nínú ọ̀rọ̀ tó wà lókè láti máa rìn ní àwọn ìṣísẹ̀ Olúwa wa Jésù Krístì. Èyí túmọ̀ sí gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọmọlẹ́yìn Kristi, a gbọ́dọ̀ gbé ìgbé ayé tí ó bá ìrí àti ìhùwàsí Jésù ọ̀gá wa mu. A ko gbọdọ ṣe aigbọran si awọn ofin Oluwa wa lati mu awọn ifẹ ti ẹran-ara wa ṣẹ. Bibeli sọ pe ofin ti o tobi julọ ti Ọlọrun ni lati nifẹ Ọlọrun ati awọn miiran pẹlu. Ara ko fẹ ki a mu awọn ifẹ Ọlọrun ṣẹ. A gbọ́dọ̀ pa ẹran ara mọ́ nípa gbígbé èrò inú wa sí ṣíṣe ohun tí inú Ọlọ́run dùn sí. Yiyan lati ka ọrọ Ọlọrun dipo lilo akoko lori awọn iṣẹ ti ko yin Ọlọrun logo. A tún gbọ́dọ̀ pinnu láti dárí jì wá kódà nígbà tí wọ́n bá ṣẹ̀ wá dípò ká yàn láti gbẹ̀san. Ṣiṣe itọju gbogbo awọn ọkunrin ni dọgbadọgba dipo fifi ojuṣaaju han. Bákan náà, gbígbàdúrà láìdábọ̀ ní àkókò tó dáa tí kò sì dára bẹ́ẹ̀ yóò fi ebi pa ẹran ara, yóò sì sún ènìyàn ẹ̀mí wa láti ní ìdàgbàsókè láti di àwòrán tòótọ́ Jésù Kristi Olúwa wa ní kẹ̀rẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀.
