“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became hungry.” – Matthew 4:1–2 (NLT)
Temptation is not optional; it is inevitable. Jesus Himself faced it at His most vulnerable moment—after forty days and nights of fasting. If the Son of God could be tempted, no believer is exempt. The enemy often strikes when we are weakest, but temptation is not sin—it is a test of our faith. Jesus overcame by responding with the Word of God, not by defending Himself or arguing with the devil. Likewise, we must equip ourselves with the Word and rely on the Holy Spirit to face every temptation. “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11). Temptation may come, but through the Word, we can overcome.
