THE DANGER OF A DIFFERENT GOSPEL
THE SEED
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and is turning to a different gospel which is no gospel at all…” Galatians 1:6-7 (NIV)
Paul’s words to the Galatian church are filled with urgency and concern. He was alarmed that they were turning away from the true gospel of grace to embrace teachings that distorted the message of Christ. This “different gospel,” though it may have sounded spiritual or appealing, lacked the power of salvation. It was a deviation from the truth and a danger to their faith. In every generation, the enemy has tried to dilute the gospel. Sometimes, it’s through legalism; placing human traditions above God’s grace. Other times, it’s through permissiveness; presenting grace as a license to sin. Whatever form it takes, any gospel that shifts the focus from Jesus’ finished work on the cross is no gospel at all. It may sound convincing, and even be promoted by influential voices, but it cannot save or transform. As believers, we must guard our hearts and stay rooted in the truth of God’s Word. Just as Paul reminded the Galatians, we too must hold fast to the gospel of grace and refuse to be swayed by teachings that contradict it. The true gospel brings freedom, not confusion; it draws us closer to Christ, not away from Him. Today, examine the message you believe and proclaim. Is it centred on Christ and His grace? Stay alert. Stay grounded. The gospel of Jesus Christ needs no improvement; only faithful commitment.

PRAYER: Lord, keep me anchored in the truth of Your gospel. Help me to discern any teaching that distorts Your message of grace. May I never stray from the truth that saves in Jesus’ name, Amen.
