The Fear Of God

THE SEED
The fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverb 1:7 KJV.

Fear of the Lord means having a deep respect, reverence and awe for God’s power and authority. We must never lose our respect and appreciation for God but we should grow beyond being motivated solely by fear and rather be motivated by God’s love-having a deep love and respect for God and His words. If you have the fear of God, you will obey his ten commandments. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life to depart from the snares of death (Proverbs 14:27) because Abraham feared the Lord, he gave up his promised son. Those who fear the Lord are being written into His book of remembrance. Joseph feared the Lord; he refused to lay with his master’s wife. He feared and loved his master too. The three Hebrew feared the Lord and refused to bow and worship the golden image. Our fear of God is based on our knowledge of His love, mercy and goodness.
