THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

THE SEED

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23(KJV).

The fruit of the spirit includes nine attributes of a Godly life that the Holy Spirit works with to develop the lives of those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their saviour.

These attributes are love, joy, peace, forbearance, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The fruit of the spirit indicates a relationship with Jesus Christ. Looking at Adam and Eve in the Bible, God planted the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden and told Adam that he was free to eat the fruit from every tree except that of the evil tree, and that if he ate from this tree he would die. Then came Satan, who tempted Adam and Eve and they ate from the evil tree. This introduced evil into the Garden of Eden for the first time. Adam and Eve were expelled from the perfect garden God had planned for them. If we choose to always do what we want (selfish desires), then our tree produces terrible fruits such as impurity, wildness, hate, problems, anger and selfishness. This kind of tree takes away goodness, it does not help us or anyone else. But if we choose to do what the Holy Spirit wants, this tree represents a life of trusting in God and obeying Him instead of thinking about what we want. Since God’s spirit lives in this tree then the fruit is all good, it helps us and others.

PRAYER: God, may the fruit of your spirit be more evident in me today than yesterday and tomorrow than today in Jesus Name. Amen.
