WE NO LONGER WORSHIP FROM AFAR

THE SEED

Then the LORD said to Moses, “… You are to worship at a distance, but Moses alone is to approach the LORD…” Exodus 24:1-2 NIV.

In Exodus 24:1-2, the Lord wanted only Moses to come up to Him and forbade others not to come up with Moses. God is Holy and He requires holiness from His worshippers. However, the story changed with the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Once redeemed, we now have graceful access to God, there is no more barrier, as there is no more condemnation if you are in Christ. In Hebrews 4:16, Christians are encouraged to confidently draw near to the throne of grace. Jesus took only three of His disciples to the Mount of Transfiguration- indeed a privilege for them. Nevertheless, He wanted to empower them so they could also empower others. Only Moses was allowed to come up to that mountain and he was also there on the Mount of Transfiguration. The Psalmist asked, Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? He answered that such a person must have clean hands and a pure heart, Psalm 24. Worshipping requires a total commitment from the heart, we should aspire to grow in our knowledge and fellowship with God. The more we move closer to God through our daily prayer and studying His words, the more we are empowered to climb the mountain of holiness. We are therefore separating ourselves gradually from the world.
